Adaptec Offers a Toast to iMAC.

MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 1, 1999--Toast 3.8, Adaptec's award-winning CD-ROM mastering software for Macintosh, now supports USB interface CD-R and CD-RW devices for the iMAC and new G3 desktops.

Because the iMAC does not have a floppy drive, users require a reliable and compatible storage solution. Toast 3.8 CD-Recording software and a CD-R drive offer an inexpensive medium, with storage capacity larger than a floppy or Zip drive.

"The iMAC's success has created an opportunity for this new breed of storage solutions," said Dave Ulmer, general manager of Adaptec's software products group. "With the addition of USB support, Toast 3.8, now lets iMAC and G3 customers make their own data, audio, and video CDs with a new generation of affordable, easy-to-use CD-Recorders."

Adaptec Toast 3.8 offers hybrid CD support, allowing users to create CDs that can be read on a Mac or PC with a CD-ROM player, or an audio CD player. Adaptec Toast 3.8 also supports all of the latest CD-R/RW drives on the market.

Pricing and Availability

Adaptec Toast 3.8 is now available bundled with the Que! Drive from QPS, Inc. and the new LaCie blue CD CD-Recorders. For further information about USB support and Adaptec's CD-R partners please see Adaptec's web site at
