Coleshill-based Acutec has become the first company in the UK to be awarded two segments of the Accredit UK Standard, which recognises the best technology suppliers in the country.

A second firm, Hunter Systems from Aston Science Park, has also been certified with the standard.

Acutec is now certified as a quality supplier of network cabling and software product design and development.

The Accredit UK standard is an independent quality mark that promotes trust in IT and helps suppliers prove their excellence. It proves to potential IT purchasers that companies holding the mark operate with appropriately skilled people, clearly defined processes, and that the company has a track record of meeting customers' expectations.

The 15-strong company is planning to use the Accredit UK standard to help grow its business.

By completing the Accredit UK standard, Acutec has been recognised as providing an honest, reliable and efficient service.

Acutec has an impressive client list, including Rentokil Initial, brewers Inbev UK and the NHS. The company offers a wide range of business IT services, including IT support and bespoke software programming.

Managing director Chris Roche, views Accredit UK as an invaluable addition to the IT industry, and one which will help all aspects of the company's operation.

"We pride ourselves in being IT experts and the Accredit UK standard demonstrates our commitment to a quality standard that is designed to allow businesses to prove their excellence,"he said.

"With the double certification, we can really say that we are the best of the best and our customers can rely on us."

The Accredit UK Assessor also said: "This certification reflects how the Accredit UK standard can be used to demonstrate a good quality ICT company. Quality is a key focus for Acutec and their excellent level of development and customer service is a first class example of this."

Meanwhile, Hunter Systems develops bespoke software solutions and is planning to use the Accredit UK standard to help grow its business.

Hunter Systems also boasts an impressive client list from private and public sector organisations.

Current projects include a payroll conversion project for Teesside University, and a stock and inventory management system for Green Cone, who provide environmental solutions to councils across the UK.

Managing director Neville Hunter, views Accredit UK as an invaluable addition to the IT industry, and one which will help all aspects of the company's operation.

"The certification shows that our company has clearly defined processes that are consistent and repeatable and gives confidence to our customers," he said.

"As we are working increasingly with the public sector and plcs, holding the Accredit UK standard for software development and design, we will greatly enhance our ability to win more business both in the public sector and large corporates."

The Accredit UK Assessor added: "Hunter Systems utilise their extensive experience of clients requirements in their chosen markets, to develop solutions that meet future needs, as well as the current needs of their customers."

Vaughan Shayler, programme director for Accredit UK, said: "By using the Accredit UK standard, Acutec and Hunter Systems is helping to make it easier for purchasers to feel confident to buy services from technology companies.

"Ninety four per cent of people that we surveyed think that the Accredit UK standard is a good idea. That is because it solves their burning need - they can now get what they want without fear."
