Activity at Gateway.
Austin Corporate Properties, Inc., exclusive leasing agent for Gateway, 1 North Lexington Avenue, White Plains, has announced the following lease transactions at the building.Dorman & Wilson has expanded its space by 7,000 square feet, bringing it to a total of over 18,000 square feet. Dorman & Wilson, a Legg Mason, Inc. Company, is a Real Estate Investment Banker, and one of the largest servicers of real estate loans in the United States.
Sverdrup Corporation has expanded its space to 6,500 square feet, and renewed its lease. Sverdrup, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, provides engineering, architectural, construction and building management services to developers and commercial landlords. Its Gateway office serves as Eastern Group Headquarters.
Maxwell Shmerler & Co., a CPA firm that originally relocated from New York City to Gateway in 1988 has renewed its lease for 4,000 square feet.
Charles Schwab has renewed its lease For 2,500 square feet of lobby-level retail space. Schwab is a major securities brokerage firm with offices throughout the, United States. Gateway contains over 500,000 square feet of space, and is located adjacent to the White Plains MetroNorth Station. Its major tenants include AT&T, Bankers Trust, Bleakley Platt & Schmidt, Cerussi & Spring, and Dorman & Wilson.
The public areas of the building are currently undergoing major refurbishment, under the design direction of Der Scutt Architects of New York, who have designed Trump Tower, the Revlon Building, and many other major buildings. The refurbishment will involve the lobby, public corridors, and elevators.
In addition, the building's mezzanine will be converted to an Amenities Center for Gateway, leaturin retail and service establishments to serve building tenants. Discussions are also underway with a number of major restaurants who wish to open a location at Gateway.
In March, 1993, an on-site leasing office will be established at Gateway.
Halpern Enterprises is the managing agent for Gateway. Halpern currently has under management approximately 3 million square feet of first-class office space in Westchester county.
Gateway is owned by CIGNA Investment, Inc.
