Active.com, the established Web registration leader for participatory sports and recreation, is one of four core businesses in a newly established network of properties, the company announced today.

The Active Network Inc., created to recognize the company's diverse and growing line of products and services, will include properties such as Active.com, eteamz.com, RecWare and Active Sports Marketing Group (ASMG). A new, redesigned Web site will also help professionals and participants easily navigate through services in each of The Active Network's core areas: individual and team-based participatory sports; and park and recreational activities.

Through properties such as Active.com and eteamz.com, the company is now one of the Web's top 10 most trafficked sports sites with monthly page views topping 50 million. With more than 60 percent of events in their second and third year of registration with Active.com, the company has already increased registration transactions by 150 percent over last year. After acquiring eteamz.com in December 2000, the company has also boosted its team Web site count to more than 520,000 and integrated services such as online registration right into team sites for easy administration by coaches and fast sign-up and payment for players. Other new team services include fundraising and photography.

Since its merger last year with RecWare software provider Sierra Digital, the company has seen revenues jump by 50 percent for enterprise software sales and has put over 50 parks and colleges online via a new XML-based application for Web registration. Through XML-based ProActive, park and recreation agencies and colleges can now offer online registration to their communities as a seamless extension of their existing recreation management software.
