Action now! The Huddersfield Daily Examiner COMMENT.

A DERELICT mill in Huddersfield is going downhill fast because of the lack of care from its owners.

Roof tiles have been stolen at Newsome Mill and the landmark clock face and inside floors have been damaged.

Neighbours living near this grot spot are understandably fed up with seeing the mill visibly deteriorating before their eyes and want something done.

True, it's the vandals who have caused the problems at Newsome Mills - but it can't have helped that owners Royalle Estates have virtually abandoned the building.

Their desertion - and the subsequent attacks by the ne'er do wells - spell out the wrong message about this vibrant area.

Let us hope that this important and prominent building is brought back into use quickly.
