Actelis, Avaya, HP, Infoblox, Redback, Sourcefire, and Strix Win NetEvents 'Technology Leaders 2006' Awards; Eight Winners Announced at Charity Gala Dinner in Aid Of Cancer Research.

GARMISCH, Germany -- Eight companies received their NetEvents 2006 "Technology Leader" Awards last Thursday night at a prestigious award banquet held in the Winter Olympic town of Garmisch, Germany as part of the NetEvents European Press & Analyst Summit 2006. This year's awards for business and technological achievement were presented by NetEvents Editorial Director, Manek Dubash, at the Renaissance Riesersee Hotel, Garmisch. The entire proceeds of $32,095 generated by the awards are to be shared between the American Cancer Society and the Prostate Project Foundation for Cancer Research.

According to an independent panel of industry analysts and senior press representatives from over 30 European publications, Hewlett Packard was named the "Most Innovative Technology Company", while the six "Product of the Year 2006" award winners were as follows. Sourcefire's 3D won the "Security Product" category for "taking the traditional IPS/IDS concepts to a whole new level of organizational security". Strix's Access One Outdoor Wireless System, launched in April and already deployed across Tempe Arizona, took the "Wireless Mobility Product" award. The "IP Telephony Product" award went to Avaya Mobile Series 60 for "pushing the development of technology forward and delivering real enhancements to its customers". Winner of the "Enterprise Product" award was Infoblox with their DNSone. Redback took the "Carrier Product" award with their SmartEdge 800 Service Gateway for "reducing complexity, increasing flexibility and lowering OPEX". While the"Metro Product" award went to Actelis for their ML 600 Ethernet Access Device a "cost effective solution for both copper pair and fiber interfaces". In addition, received an honorary award "European Service Provider of the Year for Outstanding Innovation".

The 2006 awards are the first in what will become an annual event open to all suppliers of networking or telecommunications products or services launched and delivered in the 12 months prior to 31st January each year. The award ceremonies will be incorporated into a NetEvents Press Summit - regular 2-day events held across Europe and Asia to bring together industry leaders and the world's press.

"It was great to see so many new faces as well as the big names such as HP, Intel and 3Com that have been coming to NetEvents for the last 10 years" comments Mark Fox, NetEvents Founder. " With so much industry, analyst and press talent regularly gathering under one roof it made sense to launch our own awards and open the field to non-delegates so some of the benefits of NetEvents Press Summits can now be enjoyed by a wider circle. We were especially delighted to help in raising money for such a worthy cause. The American Cancer Society and the Prostate Project Foundation were excellent organisations to work with - our charity auction included tickets to The World Cup, Wimbledon, Royal Ascot and the Ryder Cup plus many other items, contributing over $32,000 towards Cancer Research.
