Acer appoints BDL Group as distributor for UAE.

Dubai-based distributor BDL Group has announced it has signed as a distribution partner for PC manufacturer Acer Group for the UAE and other GCC markets.

BDL Group's appointment follows Acer's decision in March

this year to re-appoint the distributor as its partner in the Kingdom of Saudi

Arabia (KSA).

In terms of the agreement, BDL Group will supply the retail and traditional dealer channels in the

UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain with Acer's consumer and commercial range of

products including tablets, projectors, display panels and notebooks including

the Extensa and Aspire range.

Tamer Ismail, CEO at BDL Group, said the company is

delighted to have extended its partnership with Acer and is looking forward to

growing the business in the UAE. "We have worked with Acer in the past

from 2003 to 2008 and helped the vendor to develop its notebook business in

KSA, Egypt and Iraq," he said.

Ismail said the latest deal for the UAE market will see

BDL supply channel partners in the country with the vendor's commercial and

consumer range of products. "We are delighted with the extension of our

distribution partnership to address the UAE and other GCC countries in addition

to KSA. We believe that the business we are doing going forward is a win-win situation

for both companies," he reiterated.

Ismail further said that the UAE remains a strategic and

important market for BDL Group and the company is planning to grow the business

in the UAE and the rest of the GCC just like its has done in KSA.

"Partnering with Acer not only broadens our product

portfolio, but also gives our channel partners the opportunity to work with a

distributor that is a one-stop shop. We will be growing Acer's share in the

UAE market," he said.

Ismail said the company will also help to support Acer's

with post-sales support.

David Drummond, vice president, Acer Middle East and

Africa, said the relationship with BDL Group goes back many years ago when the

company represented the entire range in KSA. "We have seen good results of that

relationship with BDL in Saudi Arabia in terms of market share growth," he

said.

Drummond added that appointing BDL to supply the UAE

channel is a natural progression for Acer as the alliance also sees the company

introduce the Extensa range in the market. "Although it's early days, we are

happy with the success and the different market segmentation that BDL has

opened for our Extensa portfolio," he added.
