According to The Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR; Dallas, TX), the exhibition industry experienced a decline of 11.6% for the first quarter of 2009 when compared to the same period in 2008, with percentage declines on all four major metrics measured. The first quarter numbers compared to the first quarter of 2008 include Net Square Feet (-14.8%), Revenue (-19.7%), Professional Attendance (-1.5%) and Number of Exhibiting Companies (-10.4%). The data covers 11 industry sectors, including Industrial/Manufacturing, Communications/Information Technology, Medical/Health Care and Building/Construction, among others.
