Academy suffer first defeat.

SKY BLUES Under-18s slipped to their first defeat of the season at league leaders Leicester City.

Coventry's academy side went a goal down inside the first two minutes and conceded two more after the break to suffer a 3-0 defeat in the local derby and top-of-the-table clash.

Boss Gregor Rioch said: "In all fairness it was the first time we have come off second best in the battle and in all departments on the day.

"It was very disappointing because we never got our passing going and got dragged into a physical and more direct game. But that's a learning curve for the players and I have got no complaints. All credit to Leicester, who put us under a lot of pressure and stopped us playing."

Coventry, however, had their share of chances, with Rioch adding: "They scored early in the game from a knockdown from a long throw-in but Rob Ogleby had three one-on-one chances after that and dragged his shots just past the far post. We started well again in the second half but then conceded a second goal on the counter-attack, which put us on the back foot."
