Academic released after brief detention over alleged 'terrorism propaganda'.

An academic from Amasya University was released by a court on Thursday after being detained on Wednesday by police officers upon a student's complaint that she was disseminating "terrorist propaganda."

During a class on Wednesday one of the students of Ecise Atalay called the police and said she was promoting terrorist propaganda. Atalay was reportedly speaking about social and human rights.

Police officers from the anti-terrorism unit of the Amasya Police Department immediately arrived at the university and detained Atalay after class.

Later on the orders of the Amasya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the police searched Atalay's home and her office at the university.

The investigation into the incident is still ongoing. (Cihan/Today's Zaman)
