Abyan popular committees attack al-Qaeda hideout, arresting Saudi.
Head of the popular committees in Zinjibar district Mahjoub Nama said Monday that the hideout was uncovered by a Saudi national linked to al-Qaeda arrested by members of popular committees.
The Saudi arrested gave serious information, including the location of the hideout of a terrorist cell of three Saudis and seven Yemenis, he said, adding that the popular committees in coordination with security authorities are continuing to chase them.
Many explosives prepared to blow up were found in the hideout, Nama said, adding that the cell was plotting to bomb several sites in the district and planting and detonating high explosives targeting important leaders in the province and popular committees in an attempt to intimidate citizens and give an idea about Zinjibar as an unsafe city.
He praised the province leadership's support to the popular committees and the joint coordination with army and police forces to enhance security and thwart all plots to destabilize the province.
