Abu Dhabi cracks down on illegal accommodation.

The Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM) has carried out a wide-scale campaign on illegal accommodations and congested occupancy in the Baniyas neighbourhood of the UAE capital.

The crackdown resulted in the ADM serving notices to 30 violators in Baniyas East 9 area and 10 others in Baniyas East 10, reported state news agency Wam.

It is part of the municipality's efforts to curb illegal forms of accommodation as the phenomenon constitutes a huge burden and real risk to all community members, stated the report.

ADM said municipal officials were carrying out field visits in these residential areas to educate building owners and guards about the negative impacts of congested accommodations.

The ADM has warned that those found violating the rules will slapped with fines in the range of Dh10,000 to Dh100000 ($2,722 to $27,220), while repeat offenders will face fines of upto Dh200,000 ($54,441) besides eviction, it added.
