Aberdeen flights also set to get off the ground.

A NEW air service linking Cardiff and Aberdeen is to begin operating early next year.

From January 4 Eastern Airways will offer daily weekday and Sunday services from Cardiff to Aberdeen via Newcastle. Flights will significantly reduce journey times compared to other air, road or rail options.

Weekday scheduled services will depart Cardiff at 7.30am and arrive in Aberdeen at 10.25am, while flights leave Aberdeen at 4.05pm, arriving in Cardiff at 6.40pm.

Sunday services take off from Cardiff at 7.05pm, arriving in Aberdeen at 9.20pm. From Aberdeen, flights leave at 4.25pm and arrive in Cardiff at 6.40pm.

Cardiff Airport managing director Patrick Duffy said: "We know there is demand for an Aberdeen service and we are pleased that Eastern Airways has recognised this."
