Abdelsalam named ECD of JWT Cairo.
Abdelsalam Abdelsalam has taken over as executive creative director of JWT Cairo.
Tasked with developing the agency's creative output, Abdelsalam arrives from FP7/CAI where he was also executive creative director. He will report in to Ramsey Naja, chief creative officer for JWT MEA, and fills the position left vacant by the departure of Rich Wakefield at the end of last year.
"Abdi is a fantastic talent and someone who has JWT written all over him," said Naja. "He has that perfect blend of strategic thinking and natural creative talent which is today essential for successful creatives. He also happens tobe a lovely guy with a charismatic personality. He joins an office whose creative reputation is second to none and he is already lookingat ways of improving on that. I am absolutely delighted to have him on board."
Abdelsalam began his career as an intern at JWT Cairo and was hired as a copywriter shortly afterwards, working on Nestle and Unilever, and helping JWT win the Vodafone Egypt business.
JWT Cairo won 40 awards last year, including a gold at Cannes, an APG special award for best channel planning strategy, and a gold for innovation at the LIA.
