Aastrom Biosciences receives CE mark for cord blood kit.

Aastrom Biosciences, Inc., Ann Arbor, MI, announced it has obtained approval to affix the CE Mark to the final components of the AastromReplicell Cell Production System CB-I Therapy Kit for the production of cord blood cells used in stem cell therapy. The company says the announcement follows earlier approvals to affix the CE Mark to the AastromReplicell System instrumentation platform and SC-I therapy kit for the production of bone marrow cells used in stem cell therapy. Aastrom says the new treatment may provide new options for patients with blood cancers when an acceptable bone marrow donor cannot be found.
