AWT SUBSIDIARY WINS CLEAN AIR ACT MONITORING CONTRACT WORTH MORE THAN $8 MILLION

 BRANCHBURG, N.J., Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- KVB/Analect, a Research- Cottrell company and a subsidiary of Air & Water Technologies (AMEX: AWT, has been awarded a contract worth more than $8 million to supply continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS) at nine units owned by the operating companies of the Allegheny Power System.
 Under the terms of the contract, KVB/Analect will design, manufacture, deliver, and maintain hybrid dilution-extractive type CEMS. The units, which are located at the companies' Armstrong, Albright, Fort Martin, Harrison, Mitchell, R. Paul Smith, Pleasants, Willow Island, and Hatfield's Ferry stations, provide electric service to customers in parts of Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. The Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 require utilities to install CEMS and certify monitoring accuracy.
 KVB/Analect, with headquarters in Irvine, Calif., designs, manufactures, installs, and manages environmental and process information management systems. The company specializes in CEMS and FTIR multicomponent environmental and process monitors.
 The subsidiaries of Research-Cottrell -- Air Pollution Control Division, Custodis, Custodis-Ecodyne, Flex-Kleen, KVB/Analect, R-C Environmental Services & Technologies, R-C Europe, and REECO -- provide the expertise, technology, and services to comprehensively solve any air or thermal pollution problem.
