AWT SUBSIDIARY TO TEAM WITH JENIKE & JOHANSON TO PURSUE THE FGD SILO MARKET
BRANCHBURG, N.J., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Custodis, a Research-Cottrell company and a subsidiary of Air & Water Technologies Corporation (AMEX: AWT), announced that it has signed a teaming agreement with Jenike & Johanson, Inc., of Westford, Mass., to pursue the flue gas desulfurization (FGD) silo market.
The installation of FGD systems is one of the prime compliance strategies for coal-fired power plants to meet the SO2 emission requirements contained in the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990. The operation of an FGD system requires the use of large quantities of lime or limestone, which must be stored in silos on-site.
Custodis has expertise in the design and construction of chimneys and silos, while Jenike & Johanson, a world leader in bulk solids handling technology, has extensive experience in the design of large silos.
According to R.T. Goss, vice president and general manager of Custodis, "It's an excellent fit. Jenike & Johanson's experience in solving and preventing bulk solids flow problems coupled with our 100-year history designing and constructing chimneys and silos will provide clients with an unbeatable resource."
Dr. John W. Carson, president of Jenike & Johanson stated, "This strategic alliance will position both companies to meet the major storage challenge posed by this legislation. By combining our strengths, we will be able to minimize the expense of installing pollution control equipment."
The subsidiaries of Research-Cottrell Air Pollution Control Division, Custodis, Ecodyne Cooling Tower Services, Flex-Kleen, KVB, R-C Environmental Services & Technologies, R-C Europe, and REECO provide the expertise, technology and services to comprehensively solve any air or thermal pollution problem. Air & Water Technologies, through its operating units Metcalf & Eddy, Research-Cottrell, and Residuals Management provides a broad range of environmental services and technologies in the areas of water resource management, air pollution control, and waste by-product disposal and reuse. The company's AWT Capital group provides services relating to the financing of environmental facilities and systems.
