AWT SUBSIDIARY TO DESIGN MIAMI BISCAYNE SEWAGE TUNNEL

BRANCHBURG, N.J., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Metcalf & Eddy, a subsidiary of Air & Water Technologies Corporation (AMEX: AWT), has been awarded a $2.65 million contract by the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Authority Department to conduct subsurface investigations and to design a 10-foot diameter tunnel to carry sewage from Miami under Biscayne Bay to the Department's wastewater treatment plant on Virginia Key. The tunnel will be approximately 15,000 feet long and will be installed at a depth of approximately 280 feet below sea level.
The tunnel is needed to replace an existing 72-inch diameter force main that is scheduled to be taken out of service because of probable internal corrosion. The new tunnel is an option to installing a replacement force main using open cut methods.
Metcalf & Eddy will be supported on this project by a team of subconsultants including Sverdrup Corporation; Bermello, Ajamil & Partners; Bobbie Mumford & Company; Construction Control Services Corporation; and Armac Engineers.
