AWT SUBSIDIARY AWARDED CONTRACT TO UPGRADE AND EXPAND
 SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT IN KUWAIT
BRANCHBURG, N.J., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Metcalf & Eddy, a subsidiary of Air & Water Technologies Corporation (AMEX: AWT), in a joint venture with KEO-Kuwaiti Engineer's Office, has signed a contract worth more than $9 million with the Ministry of Public Works, Kuwait, for study, design, and construction supervision of the rehabilitation and extension of the Rekka Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The team was selected for this project in April 1990 and concluded negotiations in June 1990, just prior to the occupation of Kuwait. Since the liberation of Kuwait, the Ministry of Public Works has been awarding contracts to consultants selected prior to the occupation.
The Rekka Wastewater Treatment Plant was constructed in two stages beginning in 1978 with an extended aeration activated sludge treatment plant. The second stage of construction consisted of the addition of tertiary treatment facilities. The upgrade and expansion of this facility will ultimately provide treatment for 160,000 cmd (42.3 mgd) of domestic sewage.
