AWFS studies Las Vegas as future show site. (Trends & News).

THE ASSOCIATION OF Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers' exhibitor and attendee surveys at the AWFS Woodworking Fair in Anaheim included the question: For future shows would you prefer to stay in Anaheim or have the show in Las Vegas? This has in turn brought up the question: Is the AWFS Fair moving to Las Vegas?

"The answer to this question is that, no, we are not moving to Las Vegas anytime soon," said Dale Silverman, AWFS executive director. "Over the years we have considered it an option, but the Las Vegas Convention Center was always too small to accommodate the fair before. It has recently doubled its size so AWFS is now looking at it as a possibility."

The 2003 AWFS Woodworking Fair will definitely be in Anaheim. AWE'S has no contract with the Las Vegas Convention Center, but Silverman said it has become an option because it is now one of the largest convention centers in the West, In the meantime, AWFS has formed an ad hoc committee for the investigation of future locations.

"Our ad hoc committee is looking into the Las Vegas Convention Center as a viable venue," said Silverman, "but many factors must be considered in this, such as accommodations, dates, attendee and exhibitor willingness to move, set up, cost for exhibitors to move their equipment there, location, etc. For right now we just want to investigate other options and see what attendees and exhibitors would prefer. We have had 12 great years at the Anaheim Convention Center and are just looking at our options."
