AWARD WINNING ART DIRECTOR NANCY RICE JOINS DDB NEEDHAM CHICAGO
CHICAGO, June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- David Jenkins and Bob Scarpelli, executive vice presidents and executive creative directors at DDB Needham Chicago, have announced that Nancy Rice will join the agency in early July as a group creative director. Nancy Rice has won more awards from the New York Art Directors Club than any other art director during recent years.
Rice moves to Chicago from Minneapolis, where she had been executive vice president, creative director, at Rice & Rice Advertising since 1985.
"We are thrilled to welcome a person of Nancy's creative talents to our agency," said David Jenkins. "We are committed to providing our clients with the smartest thinking and the most breakthrough creative we possibly can," added Bob Scarpelli. "Nancy will join our other six group creative directors in doing just that."
Upon graduation from the Minneapolis College of Art & Design in 1970 with honors and a degree in graphic design, Nancy Rice joined Knox Reeves Advertising as assistant art director (in 1974, Knox Reeves merged with Bozell & Jacobs, Inc.). During her eleven years there, she won numerous gold and silver medals in The One Show, Andys, Clios, the New York Art Directors Club Awards, the Athenas, Graphis, Print Case Book and CA. She was a vice president, senior art director, when she left to form Fallon McElligott Rice in 1985.
As partner, vice president and executive art director at FMR, Rice handled major accounts and continued to win top awards. In 1983, Fallon McElligott Rice was named "Agency of the Year" by Advertising Age, and in 1985 she was named runner-up for "Ad Woman of the Year" by Adweek. Shortly thereafter, she resigned from the agency to form Rice & Rice Advertising.
The following year, Nancy Rice was named Art Director of the Year by the New York Art Directors Club and the Hall of Fame. Later that year she was featured in Esquire magazine's "Register 1986" as one of the people under 40 who is changing the nation.
In November 1989, her campaign for "Rolling Stone" magazine was chosen as third in the list of the "10 Best Campaigns of the Decade." Hers was the only print campaign selected. Earlier this month, she was named to the board of directors of The One Club.
In January 1991, Rice & Rice Advertising, Inc. was purchased by VR Communications of Kansas City, Mo.
Rice will move to Chicago from Minneapolis with her twin daughters.
