AW COMPUTER SYSTEMS REPORTS STRONG SECOND QUARTER AND SIX MONTH RESULTS

 MOUNT LAUREL, N.J., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- AW Computer Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: AWCSA), a leading provider of point-of-sale systems to major retailers, today reported that net income for the second quarter ended June 30, 1993, was $620,412 or $0.15 per share, 28 percent higher than the $483,031, or $0.12 per share, in the comparable period of 1992.
 For the six months, net income was $805,881 or $0.20 per share compared with $590,451 or $0.15 per share in the first half of last year, a 36 percent increase. Net income for the 1992 periods was restated to reflect AW's implementation of Financial Accounting Standards Board Statement 109 which prescribes new methods for reporting income taxes.
 Revenues for the second quarter of 1993 were $2,855,497, or 29 percent above the $2,206,766 for the same period a year ago. For the six months, revenues of $5,047,459 were 33 percent higher than the $3,785,554 reported in 1992.
 Commenting on the results, Nicholas Ambrus, chairman of AW, said, "Continuing shipments of our AWare/4680 product have generated excellent results to date. We expect to improve on these results as retailers make use of the new AW connections between existing cash registers and ATT/NCR UNITY and Fujitsu-ICL point-of-sale systems. I am confident that both revenues and net income will be at record levels for the 1993 full year."
