AVIATION WEEK announces winners of aviation industry awards.


AVIATION WEEK has announced the winners of four awards honouring excellence in the aviation industry during AVIATION WEEK's annual MRO Conference & Exhibition in Atlanta, GA.

AVIATION WEEK presented the L. Welch Pogue Award to Brian O'Keefe, former head of the Australian ATC operation. O'Keeffe is currently managing director of FANS PLANS P/L where he provides advice on the planning and implementation of the new CNS/ATM System as developed by the Future Air Navigation Systems (FANS) Committee of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Aviation Week & Space Technology and Overhaul & Maintenance presented the Charles B. Ryan Award for Business Innovation to the 309th Electronics Maintenance Group, F-16 Radar Antenna Shop, located at Hill AFB; and to the Fleet Readiness Center East Aircraft Program, located at Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station.

Overhaul & Maintenance presented the O&M Awards for Outstanding Achievement to: Bob Reding, senior vice president of Technical Operations, and John Conley, systems coordinator, American Airlines; and to Nick Heminger, manager of Quality Assurance, Goodrich Aviation Technical Services.

The O&M Awards honour individuals in the aviation/aerospace aftermarket, both commercial and military, who through outstanding performance during the previous year have improved or contributed significantly to the improvement of the efficiency, profitability, reliability and/or safety of their company's MRO operation or of aviation MRO in general.
