ANDRE VILLAS-BOAS is battling to save his job as Chelsea manager.

Villas-Boas (right) has come under renewed pressure after Saturday's defeat at Everton which pushed the Blues out of the Champions League places. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is taking a more hands-on approach and the latest setback has put Villas-Boas in danger.

The manager admitted the defeat at Everton was the worst of his nine-month reign. He was even taunted with chants of "you don't know what you're doing" at Goodison.

There are concerns Chelsea are showing no signs of improvement and Abramovich could act if they are struggling to finish in the top four.

Defeats in the FA Cup to Birmingham and the Champions League to Napoli could leave Villas-Boas in serious danger.

Former Stamford Bridge boss Guus Hiddink could be available while Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is eyeing a return to the Premier League. But Chelsea may be reluctant to bring Mourinho back having spent pounds 9m to pay him off last time.
