 AUTOMOTIVE NEWS PROMOTES BROWN, FISHER
DETROIT, March 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Editor Peter Brown will take on

the additional duty of associate publisher of Automotive News effective immediately, according to Keith Crain, publisher and editorial director. Brown has been editor of Automotive News since February 1989.
In a related move, Edward Fisher has been promoted to advertising director for Automotive News. He had been assistant sales manager since January 1989.
In his new post, Fisher replaces M. Reid MacGuidwin, who continues as vice president/director of marketing. MacGuidwin, 66, will work on special projects until he retires at the end of the year.
Under the new structure, the advertising sales department will report to Fisher, who will report to Brown. Brown will continue as editor, and continues to report to Crain, who is also vice chairman of Crain Communications Inc.
"We are pleased that we have the depth of talent in this organization that allows us to make this smooth, natural transition," Crain said.
Brown, 43, joined Crain Communications in September 1984 as the first editor of Crain's Detroit Business, a sister publication to Automotive News. He was named associate publisher of Crain's Detroit Business in December 1987.
Brown joined Crain Communications from the Detroit Free Press, where he had been a reporter and copy editor. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and a master's from the University of Michigan.
Prior to joining Automotive News, Fisher, 44, was Detroit advertising sales manager for Southern Living, a consumer publication based in Birmingham, Ala. He also has been a media supervisor at the Young & Rubicam advertising agency and a media planner at D'Arcy, McManus & Masius.
He has a bachelor's degree from Wayne State University.
MacGuidwin joined Automotive News in January 1972 as an advertising sales representative. He was promoted to marketing manager and then to director of marketing with responsibility for advertising sales. In 1988, he was named a vice president of Crain Communications, which publishes Automotive News and 24 other business and consumer publications.
Before joining Crain, MacGuidwin was Detroit regional sales manager for Automotive Industries magazine. He also held sales positions at Design News and Chemical Week magazine.
