AUTOFACT '92 BRINGS NEWEST MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGIES TO DETROIT
DEARBORN, Mich., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- AUTOFACT, the premier showcase for automated and computer-integrated manufacturing, opens in Detroit this week. The event, which made its 1977 debut in the Motor City, is expected to attract 25,000 manufacturing professionals to Cobo Center during its run from Sunday, Nov. 8, through Thursday, Nov. 12.
Sponsored by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), AUTOFACT '92 is North America's largest event for computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), computer-aided engineering (CAE), and computer-integrated manufacturing (CIM). With nearly 300 exhibitors, the exposition reflects the essential role computer systems play in today's manufacturing enterprise. In addition to CAD/CAM, CAE and CIM, the show features systems integration services, computer hardware and peripherals, manufacturing software, communications and networking technology, and the newest production equipment.
"AUTOFACT showcases the technology that enables manufacturers to raise their operations to a higher level of sophistication and competitiveness," said Nancy Berg, SME director of expositions. "This year's event features leading computer-driven manufacturing solutions to help Detroit-area engineers design more efficiently, reduce process time, lower manufacturing costs, and get quality products to market faster."
 Exposition hours at Cobo Center are: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, and Wednesday, Nov. 11; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12.
In addition to the exposition, AUTOFACT '92 also offers a comprehensive educational forum that focuses on emerging issues in the fast-moving field of CIM. This year's conference program addresses special interest areas in manufacturing strategy, critical technologies, and systems integration. More than 70 technical sessions, 28 tutorials, nine seminars, and three forums are offered.
An alternating schedule has Detroit hosting AUTOFACT in even- numbered years and Chicago in the odd. AUTOFACT will return to the Motor City in 1994.
