AUTOALLIANCE INTERNATIONAL NAMES BRUCE BOWMAN GENERAL MANAGER OF MANUFACTURING

FLAT ROCK, Mich., June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- AutoAlliance International, Inc. (formerly Mazda Motor Manufacturing (USA) Corporation) announced that Bruce E. Bowman has assumed the position of General Manager of Manufacturing, effective immediately. Bowman was most recently Assistant Plant Manager for passenger cars at Ford Motor Company's Lorain, Ohio, assembly plant. From 1989 to 1990, he served as Mazda/Ford team leader at then-Mazda Motor Manufacturing (USA) Corporation in the Quality Control and Trim and Final Assembly departments.
"I am delighted that Bruce is rejoining us," stated Mamoru Takebayashi, President of AutoAlliance. "His strong experience in assembly plant operations at Ford, as well as his familiarity with our operation through his participation in the Mazda/Ford joint study program, makes him ideally suited to the position of General Manager, Manufacturing.
Prior to assuming his post at Lorain Assembly in May 1992, Bowman served as Assistant Plant Manager of Ford's Chicago Assembly plant. He began working for Ford in Quality Control at the Louisville Assembly plant in 1972, followed by other Quality Control assignments at the Kentucky Heavy Truck Plant, the Automotive Assembly Division Staff, and at the Wixom, Mich., Luxury Car Assembly Plant. While at the Wixom plant, he moved into production and served in a variety of Superintendent and Area Manager positions before being assigned in 1989-90 to Mazda. He moved to the Ford Chicago plant in 1990.
As General Manager of Manufacturing, Bowman will be responsible for overseeing daily production operations, including supervision of stamping, body assembly, paint, plastics, trim, final assembly, quality control, and maintenance departments. He reports to Toshihide Saeki, Executive Vice President of Operations and a member of the Board of Directors of AutoAlliance International. Bowman succeeds James Anderson, who resigned earlier this year.
AutoAlliance International is a joint venture between Mazda Motor Corporation and Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F). The company employs 3,700 people and produces the Mazda MX-6, Ford Probe, and Mazda 626. In operation since 1987, the plant recently built its 1-millionth vehicle since the start of production.
