AUTOALLIANCE INTERNATIONAL HONORS 26 SUPPLIERS

 FLAT ROCK, Mich., Nov. 24 ~PRNewswire~ -- AutoAlliance International, Inc. (formerly Mazda Motor Manufacturing (USA) Corporation) recently honored 26 outstanding suppliers for their work to produce high-quality components and process improvements that contribute to future quality performance.

 "I'm pleased to honor these suppliers who are making an important contribution in ensuring that we provide a high-quality product for our customers," said Mutsumi Fujiwara, AutoAlliance vice president of purchasing. "These suppliers met the challenge of continuously improving to meet our high standards, and in assuring that we were able to carry out the launch of our all-new vehicles successfully."
 The Most Valued Supplier (MVS) Award was presented to six production and six non-production (materials) suppliers. The suppliers, which received MVS awards, were selected based on their performance related to stringent requirements in cost reduction, quality control, delivery and service.
 The recipients of the 1992 MVS Award are:

 -- Breed Technologies, Inc., Boonton, N.J. (airbag sensors)
 -- United Technologies Automotive, Wauseon, Ohio (door trims)
 -- ABC (LCF) Manufacturing LTD, Rexdale, Ontario (blow molded air ducts)
 -- Ford Motor Company, Monroe, Mich. (catalytic converters)
 -- Ford Motor Company (Climate Control Division), Plymouth, Mich. (air conditioning components)
 -- Intac Automotive Products, Inc., Lamont, Ill. (long-life coolants, brake fluids and windshield washer solvents)
 -- Yamato International Corporation, Flat Rock, Mich. (tapes, die cuts and maskings)
 -- Cemedine U.S.A., Inc., Oak Creek, Wis. (body shop sealers)
 -- Michigan Arc Products, Troy, Mich. (welding supplies)
 -- P.A.B. Tool Corporation, Ferndale, Mich. (die replacement parts)
 -- Cousins Waste Control Corporation, Toledo, Ohio (industrial cleaning and environmental services)
 The AutoAlliance Quality Award for Total Excellence is presented annually by the company to its top production suppliers based on the supplier's overall quality assurance system. Fourteen suppliers earned the award based on their performance on quality.
 "I am delighted that the AutoAlliance supplier family has accepted the quality challenges of the future," said Greg Brown, quality control manager at AutoAlliance. "Their efforts to this end are evident in the growing number of award recipients, and particularly those suppliers receiving multiple awards."

 -- Hitachi Cable Indiana, Inc., New Albany, Ind. (brake hose assemblies)
 -- The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Lawton, Okla. (tires)
 -- Daikin Clutch Corporation, Belleville, Mich. (clutch assemblies)
 -- Ford Motor Company PTPD, Saline, Mich. (instrument panels)
 -- Ya America Inc., Versailles, Ky. (power steering pressure hoses)
 -- Penstone, Inc., Rockwood, Mich. (glass assemblies)
 -- Matsushita Electronic Components Corporation of America (Panasonic), Knoxville, Tenn. (audio speakers)
 -- Ford Electronics Manufacturing Corporation, Markham, Ontario (diagnostic units)
 -- Johnson Controls, Inc., Holland, Ohio (batteries)
 -- Ford Motor Company PTPD, Sandusky, Ohio (air cleaners)
 In addition, AutoAlliance acknowledged 19 suppliers with the Zero Defect Award, given to suppliers who have delivered zero defect parts, including zero defects labeling, during the past year.
 AutoAlliance spent more than $1 billion with North American suppliers in fiscal year 1992 (October 1991 - September 1992). For the 1993 model year, AutoAlliance expects domestic expenditures to exceed $1.7 billion.
