AUTO WORKERS TEAM UP FOR NASCAR RACE EVENT
 ATLANTA, March 12 /PRNewswire/ -- A parade of 36 Ford Taurus and

Mercury Sables will take to the track Sunday, March 15, before the Motorcraft Quality Parts 500 NASCAR race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
The drivers and passengers will be employees of Ford Motor Company's Atlanta Assembly Plant.
Plant employees developed the original idea of driving a pre-race parade lap -- both to entertain the 100,000 race fans and to show off their Atlanta-built cars.
"This is another example that shows the pride and confidence Atlanta Assembly Plant employees have in the products we build," said Bob Anderson, Atlanta Assembly Plant manager. "We believe we build some of the best products in the world."
J.C. Phillips, chairman of United Automobile Workers Local 882, said, "This is just one way of taking the story of American-built quality straight to the public, up close and personal."
A group of 72 employees volunteered to take part in the parade lap on Sunday.
The employees also want to invite race fans to visit a special display tent behind the Weaver Grandstand on Saturday and Sunday so they can describe the merits of American products in general and Ford products, in particular.
Race fans visiting the tent will be able to look over Taurus and Sable sedans, a Taurus wagon and the high performance Taurus SHO. The display will be opened and staffed between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on both days.
