AURA SYSTEMS ACQUIRES ALLIANT TECHSYSTEMS CERAMICS CENTER

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- In another step in the expansion of its core businesses, Aura Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: AURA), today announced the acquisition of the Ceramics Center of Minneapolis- based Alliant Techsystems, Inc. (NYSE: ATK)
The Ceramics Center is the producer of a proprietary material that is a key component of Aura's Actuated Mirror Array (AMA) technology for both standard resolution and high definition television sets (HDTV) and other display systems.
AMA technology uses micro-sized pixel mirrors to light a television display rather than a cathode ray or liquid crystal display, enabling brighter televisions to be built with larger screens and at lower cost. The inherent optical efficiency and high brightness of the AMA display will allow television to be watched in normally lit rooms or even outdoors, which current large screen TV technologies do not readily enable.
Aura is currently producing a big screen TV set utilizing the AMA technology in conjunction with Daewoo Electronics Co. The Korean electronics giant also incorporates Aura's new technology AuraSound speakers in certain of its television sets.
Last week, Aura announced a binding joint venture agreement with the Israel Aircraft Industry (IAI) to use Aura's unique electro-magnetic technology to build actuators for commercial and military aircraft, high performance land vehicles and other commercial applications. When approved by IAI and the Israeli government, the joint venture will result in a consolidated backlog in excess of $100 million.
