ATU GREYHOUND MEMBERS RATIFY NEW CONTRACT WITH COMPANY

WASHINGTON, May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- International President Jim La Sala is proud to join the members of the Amalgamated Council of Greyhound Local Unions and the Greyhound local presidents in announcing, this afternoon, that the members of the Greyhound locals of the Amalgamated Transit Union have ratified the new contract between the ATU and the company.
"I am elated," said La Sala, "an I am glad that the union, the company, the Greyhound Council and particularly our Greyhound members can finally put all of this behind us and get back to the business of serving the riding public.
"I am confident that the agreement that our Greyhound members ratified today, not only will form the basis of a new working relationship between the company and its workers but also will become a model for labor-management relations in this country for the future.
"I, again, want to personally thank Greyhound President Frank Schmieder, who had the vision and foresight and, indeed, courage to come to the bargaining table and hammer out this agreement, as well as our Greyhound Council and local presidents. I also want to commend Greyhound Attorney Rosemary Collier and ATU Attorney Jeff Freund, who provided such valuable service in helping us reach this successful conclusion."
