 ATMOS ENERGY TO INCREASE 1993 CAPITAL BUDGET
 DALLAS, Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Atmos Energy Corporation (NYSE: ATO)


today said that it will increase its capital budget to approximately $37 million for its 1993 fiscal year, which begins Oct. 1, 1992.
 "The capital budget for 1992 was $33 million, compared with actual expenditures of $30 million in 1991. Atmos expects its capital spending program will continue to grow as the company grows. The spending plan emphasizes projects that enhance our operating efficiency, avoid expense increases and maintain our high quality of customer service," said Charles K. Vaughan, Atmos chairman, president and chief executive officer.
 The majority of the 1993 budget is targeted for system improvements, extending service to new customers and upgrading facilities. About $20.5 million will be spent in the company's Texas service area; $5.7 million in Louisiana; $7.9 million in Kentucky; and $2.9 million on corporate projects.
 Atmos Energy Corporation provides natural gas service to more than one-half million customers in Texas, Louisiana, and Kentucky through its operating companies -- Energas Company, Trans Louisiana Gas Company and Western Kentucky Gas Company.
