ATMOS ENERGY RECEIVES INTERIM RATE INCREASE
 IN AMARILLO, TEXAS, SERVICE AREA
DALLAS, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Atmos Energy Corporation (NYSE: ATO) received approval today from the Railroad Commission of Texas for interim rates during the company's appeal of its rate request in the Amarillo, Texas, service area.
The Railroad Commission granted an interim rate increase of approximately $700,000 on an annual basis, effective from June 10, 1992, which is when the company filed its appeal. The interim rates are subject to refund if the revenue requirement finally granted is less than the level upon which the interim rates were based.
The company is seeking a $4.4 million annual rate increase for the Amarillo service area, which affects about 60,500 customers. The City of Amarillo took action in June to deny the company's request for increased rates.
Atmos Energy Corporation provides natural gas service to more than one-half million customers in Texas, Louisiana and Kentucky through its operating companies - Energas Company, Trans Louisiana Gas Company and Western Kentucky Gas Company.
