ATMOS ENERGY CORPORATION NOMINATES TWO TO ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

DALLAS, Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Atmos Energy Corporation (NYSE: ATO) today announced that Carl S. Quinn of Houston and Richard Ware II of Amarillo, Texas, have been nominated for election to its board of directors.
Quinn is chairman, president and chief executive officer of Interstate Natural Gas Company in Houston. Ware is president of Amarillo National Bank. Their nominations will be voted upon by Atmos shareholders at the Feb. 10, 1994, annual meeting.
Quinn previously served as chairman and chief executive officer of Arkla Exploration Company, and has more than 30 years experience in the natural gas industry. He served as chairman, president and chief executive officer of Celeron Corporation, formerly the parent corporation of Trans Louisiana Gas Company, which is now a division of Atmos.
Ware has served as president of Amarillo National Bank since 1981. He was a member of the SMU board of trustees, and is currently on the SMU Cox School of Business executive board, as well as the West Texas A&M University Business School board.
"Both of these nominees have in-depth knowledge of Atmos' service areas. Richard Ware's strong financial background and Carl Quinn's extensive experience in the natural gas industry will be great assets for the board," said Charles Vaughan, chairman and chief executive officer of Atmos.
They are being nominated to fill the board positions of William H. Quackenbush, who retired, and Ronald L. Fancher, who resigned from the board when he became president and chief operating officer of Atmos earlier this year.
Atmos Energy Corporation provides natural gas service to more than one-half million customers in Texas, Louisiana, and Kentucky through its operating companies -- Energas Company, Trans Louisiana Gas Company and Western Kentucky Gas Company.
