ATLAS AUDIOTEX, LTD. OFFERS COMPUTERIZED CAR PRICE QUOTATION

ATLAS AUDIOTEX, LTD. OFFERS COMPUTERIZED CAR PRICE QUOTATION
DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla., March 26 /PRNewswire/ -- When C.O. "Hamp" Hampton decided to buy a Jeep Cherokee Sport, he shopped every dealer in the region. He wasn't surprised to confront a wide variety of prices and incentives.
Hampton's confusion ended quickly when he made a single "900" phone call. The call cost him $1.99 a minute...and saved him $500.
Hamp Hampton dialed the computerized Car Price Quotation service of Atlas Audiotex, Ltd., a Florida-based service that offers instant comparative quotations on car prices for any make, any model, and any assortment of options and accessories.
One of a number of high-tech operations in the burgeoning 900 field, Atlas Audiotex operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. "One advantage we have over a 'printout'," says Phillip Kemp, Atlas Audiotex president, "is that our information matches exactly what the buyer wants. A printout usually includes hundreds of options and ordering rules that can confuse buyers and are impossible to match at the local dealer."
Another obvious advantage is the instant response. Someone car- shopping after business hours can still get an exact quotation.
Constant updating in the Atlas Audiotex computer covers 40 different makes of cars and hundreds of models, ranging from Acura and Alfa Romeo to Volkswagen and Volvo. Because the company has no tie to any dealer, information is unbiased and unrelated to sales activities.
Some dealers are uneasy because the service provides dealers' "holdback" and factory-to-dealer incentives that printouts seldom cover. But other dealers welcome customers who know exactly what they should pay.
"Without Atlas Audiotex I'd have lost more than $500," says Hamp Hamptom. "Instead, I bought my Jeep for $67 over absolute cost. I really feel this is a service consumers like me can use to beat the dealers and receive a fair price without all the smoke and mirrors."
Phillip Kemp points out that any touch-tone phone can gain access to the service. No knowledge of computers and no special equipment is required. Kemp invites any individual to call this specific number on a touch-tone phone: 900-786-8755.
"As consumers," Kemp points out, "lack of knowledge, not an aggressive salesperson, is our enemy."
