ATLANTIS SUBMARINES FOR ROMANCE UNDER THE SEA
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jan. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Honeymooning

couples in tropical destinations often gaze out to the ocean, wondering what lies below the incoming waves. For many, an Atlantis Submarine can provide a unique way to explore this last frontier.
Atlantis Submarines are found in some of the world's most enjoyable honeymoon destinations: Grand Cayman; Barbados; St. Thomas; Aruba; Guam; Kona, Hawaii; Lahaina-Maui, Hawaii; and Waikiki, where two submarines operate out of Hilton Hawaiian Village. Grand Cayman is where it all began, when the first passenger sub in the world was launched there in 1985. Since that day, Atlantis has carried nearly 2 million passengers to the ocean's floor, thrilling guests with sights of rainbow-colored coral, a myriad of exotic fish and other colorful marine life.
In February 1992, Atlantis I in Grand Cayman will be replaced by a new state-of-the-art 46-passenger sub. At that point, all Atlantis subs will be of the larger size with the exception of Barbados, which has operated a 28-passenger vessel since 1986.
Atlantis in Grand Cayman also recently obtained a deep-dive submersible capable of taking two passengers and a pilot to depths of up to 900 feet. Attractions during the hour-long dive around the famous Cayman Wall include bizarre deep sea life forms, unusual seascapes and the Kirk Pride, a sunken freighter lying intact and upright at a depth of 800 feet.
Every site offers its own unique and intriguing experience. In Guam, passengers view Gab Gab Reef II, while Barbados passengers view an actual sunken ship. Waikiki has a sunken ship as well, a World War II U.S. Navy tanker. The 174-foot vessel was placed on the ocean floor along with two airliners as part of an artificial reef program, Atlantis Reef.
Atlantis Reef Divers is another interesting aspect of Atlantis' operation. This Honolulu diving service offers guided tours for certified divers of Atlantis Reef, just a half mile off world-famous Waikiki Beach; open-water PADI courses and a "Discover Diving" program for first-time divers.
With a worldwide collection of subs larger than many navy fleets, the list of fascinating sea adventures to be found throughout the Atlantis locations is too long to experience in one honeymoon, but that's what anniversaries are for.
