ATLANTIC RECORDS TO UNDERWRITE TROPICANA NIGHT '92
LA JOLLA, Calif., Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Atlantic Records, a Time Warner company, recently announced its support of Tropicana Night '92, the event to benefit Scripps Memorial Hospitals McDonald Center's Adolescent Long Term Treatment Program. Paul Cooper, senior vice president/West Coast general manager of Atlantic Records, made the announcement at recent meetings of the National Advisory Board for the McDonald Center.
"Because Tropicana Night is a first-class event benefiting people from across the country who suffer from alcohol and drug abuse problems, we decided to support the event as much as possible," said Cooper.
This year's event features Desi Arnaz Jr., Jackie Cooper, Ann Miller, John Forsythe, Esther Williams, Shadoe Stevens, Jenny and Sid Craig, jockey of the year Gary Stevens, and Hall of Fame trainer Jack Van Berg.
Cooper emphasized that Atlantic Group Co-Chairman/Co-Chief Executive Officer Ahmet M. Ertegun and Atlantic Group Co-Chairman/Co- Chief Executive Officer Doug Morris were instrumental in getting the entertainment industry giant to support Tropicana Night.
"Atlantic has been a supporter of Tropicana Night for the past three years," said Cooper. "The fact that the corporation supports it as well says something about the credibility of McDonald Center and the commitment of Warner Music Group," he added.
Tropicana Night '92 ... A Racey Affair! will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, 7 p.m. to midnight at the Fairbanks Ranch Country Club, 15150 San Dieguito Road, Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
The McDonald Center for Alcoholism and Drug Addiction Treatment is an 88-bed inpatient and outpatient chemical dependency treatment facility located on the campus of Scripps Memorial Hospitals in La Jolla. Established in 1979, the center is nationally known for chemical dependency treatment excellence and its successful use of the intervention methods -- a process by which the alcoholic/addict is lovingly confronted by family members, co-workers and friends and urged into treatment.
