ATLANTIC ENERGY ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT CHANGES

 PLEASANTVILLE, N.J., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Atlantic Energy announced today that E. Douglas Huggard, its chief executive officer and chairman of the board, will retire from the day-to-day operations of the company and its subsidiaries after its annual meeting of shareholders on April 28, 1993.
 Huggard will be succeeded as chief executive officer by Jerrold L. Jacobs who also will continue as president and director of Atlantic Energy. Jacobs will also succeed Huggard as chairman and chief executive officer of Atlantic Electric, the electric utility subsidiary of Atlantic Energy. He currently serves as president and a director of Atlantic Electric.
 In making the announcement in behalf of the board of directors of Atlantic Energy, Huggard expressed confidence that "Mr. Jacobs has been well prepared for his new positions through the management succession program, which assures continuity of leadership with commitment to Atlantic Energy's mission." The board said it intends to re-elect Huggard as chairman of Atlantic Energy at the April 1993 annual meeting.
 Huggard, of Ocean City, N.J., became chief executive officer of Atlantic Electric in 1985. At the time of formation of the holding company in 1987, Huggard became chief executive officer of Atlantic Energy, Inc. He began his career with Atlantic Electric in 1955 as an engineer at the Deepwater Generating Station.
 Huggard serves as a member of the executive advisory board of First Fidelity Bank, N.A. South Jersey, a director of the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce and director of the New Jersey Utilities Association.
 Jacobs, a Margate resident, joined Atlantic Electric in 1961 as an engineer and held a number of management positions in operations, engineering and finance until 1977, when he was named vice president of production. Since that time, he has served as corporate officer in the areas of finance, production and engineering, and in 1987, was named vice president of Atlantic Energy. In 1988, he was named executive vice president of Atlantic Electric. In 1990 he became president of Atlantic Electric and president and director of Atlantic Energy.
 Jacobs is a vice chairman of the South Jersey Chamber of Commerce and past chairman of the regional section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. In 1991, Jacobs was the recipient of the Distinguished Community Service Award of the Anti-Defamation League of the B'nai B'rith. He has served on a number of utility and engineering committees.
