ATLANTIC COAST AIRLINES ANNOUNCES NOVEMBER PASSENGER TRAFFIC RESULTS

 STERLING, Va., Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Atlantic Coast Airlines, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: ACAI), which operates as United Express, reported that its passenger traffic increased 81.3 percent in November, as compared to November 1992, according to preliminary results released today. The carrier's traffic, as measured in revenue passenger miles (RPMs), rose from 20,021,000 in November of last year to 36,289,000 this past month. The airline's capacity, available seat miles (ASMs), increased 107.3 percent, from 39,639,000 to 82,155,000. Load factor, the percentage of available seats filled, declined 6.3 percentage points, from 50.5 percent to 44.2 percent. Atlantic Coast Airlines carried 143,340 passengers in November 1993, 103.2 percent more than the 70,527 carried during the same month last year.
 For the first 11 months of 1993, Atlantic Coast Airlines' RPMs have increased 73.3 percent, from 201,713,000 to 349,567,000, while ASMs have risen 79.1 percent, from 428,305,000 to 767,046,000. The carrier's load factor for the first 11 months of this year has decreased 1.5 percentage points, from 47.1 percent in 1992 to 45.6 percent. Atlantic Coast Airlines has carried 1,319,385 passengers thus far in 1993, as compared to 718,478 in 1992, an 83.6 percent increase.
 Kerry Skeen, president of Atlantic Coast Airlines, said, "While traffic results for the month of November met our expectations, the most significant development the month was the implementation, in concert with United Airlines, of a new methodology for managing our inventory of frequent flyer tickets. We expect that this program will begin to have a positive effect on our yield performance in the first quarter of 1994."
