ATLANTIC COAST AIRLINES ANNOUNCES NEW WHITE PLAINS TO BUFFALO SERVICE ON MAY 5

ATLANTIC COAST AIRLINES ANNOUNCES NEW WHITE PLAINS
TO BUFFALO SERVICE ON MAY 5
WASHINGTON, April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Atlantic Coast Airlines/United Express today announced that it will begin service between White Plains and Buffalo, N.Y., on May 5, linking two key New York State business centers. When the new flights commence, Atlantic Coast Airlines will be the only carrier offering non-stop service between the two cities. The United Express schedule will consist of four round trips each business day, to be operated with the British Aerospace Jetstream 31, a state-of-the-art 19-seat turboprop aircraft. Atlantic Coast Airlines currently serves both Buffalo and White Plains with non-stop flights from its hub at Washington Dulles International Airport. The United Express carrier offers one round trip per day from Washington to Buffalo, complementing the existing United Airlines presence in the market. Washington to White Plains service consists of six non-stop flights per day. With the addition of the Buffalo trips, total daily departures from White Plains will stand at 10.
In a related move, Atlantic Coast Airlines said that it will discontinue service between White Plains and Boston, citing the overabundance of available seats between the two cities.
Commenting on both scheduling moves, Kerry Skeen, chief operating officer of Atlantic Coast Airlines, said: "We feel that there is real potential in the Buffalo-White Plains market. These two cities are among the largest business markets in New York State and are not currently linked by non-stop flights. We decided to reallocate our aircraft resources because of the saturation of the White Plains- Boston route. With the strong presence of United Airlines and United Express in both White Plains and Buffalo, we look forward to offering another destination for travelers from these two airports."
In addition to the White Plains-Buffalo service, Atlantic Coast Airlines also announced that it would begin operating flights to Savannah, Ga., from the Washington Dulles hub on May 5. The Savannah service will be operated with the carrier's 30-passenger Embraer Brasilia aircraft. United Express will serve 14 East Coast states and the District of Columbia, adding Georgia to the route network.
Atlantic Coast Airlines operates to nine cities in New York State from Washington Dulles. Along with White Plains and Buffalo, United Express serves Rochester, Binghamton, Syracuse, Newburgh/Stewart, Albany, New York City/JFK and Islip. With its fleet of 17 Jetstream 31 aircraft and 12 Embraer Brasilia 120 aircraft, Atlantic Coast Airlines flies to 36 East Coast cities from its hub at Washington Dulles International Airport.
Through a comprehensive marketing agreement with United Airlines, Atlantic Coast Airlines operates as United Express. Flight schedules are closely coordinated to offer customers the benefits of one-stop check-in to worldwide destinations on United Airlines. Members of United's popular Mileage Plus frequent flyer program earn a minimum of 500 miles on all United Express flights.
