ATLANTA IN THE SPOTLIGHT AMONG ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVES
ATLANTA, Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Society of

Association Executives' (ASAE) 72nd Annual Meeting will be held in Atlanta, Aug. 29 - Sept. 2, 1992, and future economic benefits resulting from the meeting are expected to exceed $220 million.
This meeting is important to Atlanta because of the tremendous opportunity for future convention business for the city. Association executives attending the meeting will be closely scrutinizing the city's hotels, facilities, restaurants and convention service companies. As many attendees will be deciding on future meeting destinations; this is the premier opportunity for Atlanta to showcase her first-class convention and meeting amenities to this captivated audience.
Associations and hosting association meetings not only provide economic benefits, but they also provide a vast range of other benefits.
Currently there are over 23,000 associations operating on the national level and over 100,000 operating on state, regional and local levels. These associations provide some 500,000 full-time jobs. Seven out of 10 Americans are a member of at least one association, and these members are responsible for over 100 million volunteer hours in community service.
When people join together in associations, they often achieve what no one person can achieve alone. Associations are responsible for establishing codes of ethics and professional standards which govern many professions. Additionally, associations are educational sources for consumers and are sources of information, research and statistics.
Established in 1913, the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) is a private, non-profit organization created exclusively to market Atlanta and Georgia regionally, domestically and internationally to both groups and individuals, in order to enhance the economy and increase employment.
