ATHLETICS: Shiels out in front.
Byline: GARETH HUGHESABERGELE'S Simon Shiels retained his title in the Village Bakery Half-Marathonat Wrexham. He finished over two minutes clear of second-placed Mark Hall (Barnsley), withCarl Hardman (Salford) third.
Wrexham teenager Luke Northall, who finished second in the Welsh cross-country championships the previous day,paid the price with a below-par performance, clocking 74m 58s.
The ladies' title went to Wrexham's Emma Parry. Both she and Shiels are in the Wales team to travel to the Ballycotton 10 next week.
