ATHLETICS: A double helping for the Dables.

KENILWORTH Runners' Tom and Pauline Dable competed in the Charlton- on-Otmoor four-mile road race in Oxfordshire, finishing in 25-50 and 31- 18 respectively, before recording 32-46 and 39-50 in the Chelmsley Wood Grand Prix five-mile.

Stef Shillington completed the Rhayader Mountain Trail in 7 hr 45 min as the leading walker in the 28-mile race. The course goes round the Elan Valley Reservoirs on high, trackless mountainsides, climbing some 6,500 feet.

o NORTHBROOK'S Mark Baker returned from Wales with a personal best for 10 km, clocking 37-34 in the Bruckla road race. Con McHugh (33-10) and Dennis Carey (34-45) ran in the Great Weston 5-mile multi-terrain race.

o NOW competing in the colours of Birchfield Harriers, former Coventry and Rugby sprinter Brendon Ghent won the 200 metres in 21.97 at the European permit meeting in Palafrugell, Spain.
