US communications holding company AT&T (NYSE:T) announced on Monday that it is boosting its network capacity at Balloon Fiesta Park in Albuquerque, as thousands of people are expected to converge there for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.

According to AT&T, it has deployed a Cell on Wheels (COW), to accommodate expected increased wireless network demands from high concentrations of smartphone users in Albuquerque. This augmentations is expected to help improve reliability and data speeds as the event runs from 4 October 2014 through 12 October 2014.

AT&T had launched its 4G LTE network in Albuquerque in December 2012.

Reportedly, AT&T has invested over USD80m in its Albuquerque area wireless and wireline networks from 2010 through 2013. Over the past six years, from 2008 to 2013, AT&T invested over USD140bn into its wireless and wireline networks.
