 AT&T TO PROVIDE WIRELESS INFRASTRUCTURE EQUIPMENT IN BRAZIL
 CURITIBA, Brazil, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- It was announced today that AT&T (NYSE: T) will join SID Telecomunicacoes in providing cellular infrastructure equipment for Telepar, a regional operating company in the state of Parana. The contract is between SID and Telepar, and SID is the distributor for AT&T Network Systems products in Brazil. The approximate value of AT&T's portion of this agreement is estimated to be in excess of $10 million.
 AT&T will provide the cellular switching and radio equipment needed to serve subscribers in Curitiba, the capital city of Parana. The system will include an AUTOPLEX (R) System 1000, consisting of a mobile switching center and 12 radio cell sites. AT&T will also provide engineering and installation support services.
 "Brazil is a thriving telecommunications market, and we are delighted to work with SID in providing Telepar with an advanced cellular network," said Niels Favre, vice president for AT&T Network Wireless Systems.
 This will be Parana's first cellular system, serving 10,000 subscribers. Subscriber growth in that state is expected to reach 50,000 over the next four years.
 AT&T's AUTOPLEX equipment is manufactured in the United States at the company's manufacturing facility in Columbus, Ohio.
