AT&T SPONSORS A CELEBRATION OF THE NEW YEAR AND NEW HOPE IN THE FIGHT AGAINST AIDS; AT&T FOUNDATION GIFT TO SUPPORT LOCAL AIDS AGENCIES

MIAMI, Dec. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T will sponsor the Jan. 2 performance of Twyla Tharp and Mikhail Baryshnikov at the Jackie Gleason Center for the Performing Arts to celebrate the new year, and to bring new hope in the fight against AIDS.
The event, presented by the Concert Association of Florida, features Twyla Tharp in "Cutting Up", a program of her works that she, fellow dance legend Mikhail Baryshnikov and a troupe of dancers will perform.
AT&T is sponsoring the event to raise awareness and to offer financial support for the critical AIDS crisis in Miami. Miami is second only to New York in the number of AIDS cases in the U.S.
In association with the sponsorship, AT&T will announced a significant gift from the AT&T Foundation, to be presented to the Dade Community Foundation, which is targeted for local AIDS agencies.
Nationally, AT&T has contributed more than $3 million in grants and equipment in the past two years to AIDS programs that offer education, channel health service to people with AIDS and help families cope with the high emotional and financial cost of this modern-day plague.
All attending the Jan. 2 performance will receive the traditional red ribbons associated with recognition of the AIDS crisis to encourage awareness and support in the fight against AIDS.
