 AT&T SECURE COMMUNICATIONS PRODUCTS RECEIVES
MAJOR GOVERNMENT ORDER FOR $17 MILLION
GREENSBORO, N.C., June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T (NYSE: T) has received a major government order totalling $17.4 million for a wide variety of secure communications products and services.
The largest single order came from the U.S. Navy. Other orders were received from the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force and a wide range of civilian agencies.
The government ordered more than 6,000 Secure Voice/Data Terminals, including AT&T's flagship Model 1100 and multi-line Model 1150, and more than 1,500 Secure Data Devices, including the Model 1900 and higher- speed model 1910.
Major orders were also received for three new products -- the AT&T Secure Cellular Voice/Data Terminal, the AT&T Merlin-Compatible Secure Voice/Data Terminal and the AT&T Secure Video Docking Unit.
"This is a real vote of confidence from our customers in our new AT&T secure communications architecture," said Mike Agee, AT&T secure communications sales manager.
The redesigned Model 1100 Secure Voice/Data Terminal and the Model 1900 Secure Data Device debuted in the government classified market in 1991. The Model 1910, cellular and Merlin-compatible models were introduced this year.
AT&T secure voice/data terminals transmit secure voice and secure data from a single unit. The secure cellular and Merlin-compatible terminals offer all the functions and the same high level of security as the Model 1100 and multi-line 1150 models.
AT&T provides parallel products for the government non-classified market
and for commercial and international customers. The features and capabilities of these products are similar to those sold for government classified purposes.
