AT&T RENEWS SPONSORSHIP OF SPACESHIP EARTH AT EPCOT CENTER

BURBANK, Calif., Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The Walt Disney Co. announced today that AT&T has renewed its sponsorship of Spaceship Earth at EPCOT Center in the Walt Disney World Resort. The 10-year renewal agreement marks a strengthening of the long-term relationship between Disney and AT&T. AT&T has sponsored the Spaceship Earth attraction at EPCOT Center since the park opened in 1982.
Under the agreement, Disney will renovate Spaceship Earth, the geosphere that symbolizes EPCOT Center, and a new exhibit area will be added featuring interactive exhibits demonstrating AT&T's advances in communications technology.
"We are delighted to have AT&T continue its relationship with us as EPCOT Center enters its second decade," said Frank G. Wells, Disney president. "AT&T is the leading global telecommunications company and we look forward to working with them in creating an attraction that highlights the most advanced communications capabilities and technologies."
Spaceship Earth is housed in the 18-story geosphere, where guests journey through time and observe the evolution and importance of human communications -- from its most primitive origins through today's advanced communications techniques. The renovated exhibit will demonstrate the exciting potential of advances in global networking capabilities for today and the future.
"We are very pleased to have been a part of EPCOT Center since its beginning," said David Robertson, AT&T's advertising vice president. "In that time, millions of guests each year have experienced Spaceship Earth and learned about humankind's efforts to communicate through the ages. We are excited to continue to play an important role in bringing this important story to the public and look forward to building upon our relationship with Disney well into the next century."
Spaceship Earth is one of the eight major themed pavilions sponsored by leading corporations at EPCOT Center's Future World.
