 AT&T PARADYNE ANNOUNCES PRICE REDUCTION,
NEW COST-EFFECTIVE MODEM AND ENHANCEMENTS FOR COMSPHERE SERIES
LARGO, Fla., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T Paradyne announced today a significant price reduction, as well as a new cost-effective V.32bis modem and additional enhancements for its COMSPHERE(R) 3800 Series Software-Defined (SD) modems. The enhancements include advanced security features, as well as the industry's fastest data compression rates.
The company's new $795 COMSPHERE 3830 modem, available in July, will provide high-function capabilities similar to its COMSPHERE 3820 modem. The modem will support all modulation schemes, as well as error correction and data compression algorithms that are provided by other 3800 family products.
The access security feature provides customers with a sophisticated, cost-effective mechanism to protect their network from unauthorized access, without requiring the purchase of additional hardware. The new security feature gives customers up to 3,000 passwords for each 3811 modem or modem pool.
AT&T Paradyne has also doubled the data compression rates of its software-defined modems from 57.6 Kbps to 115.2 Kbps, which will allow customers to address additional asynchronous applications that require high-speed data transfer, including CAD CAM, imaging transfers and video transmissions.
Other features supported in Release 3.0 include error correction and data compression for asynchronous leased line applications, as well as other key features that support various customer applications.
AT&T Paradyne also announced the availability of Release 2.0 of its COMSPHERE 6700 Dial Network Management System (DNMS), which as a companion product of the 3800 Series modems, will offer customers enhanced response times. The new DNMS software release increases device support from 1,000 to 2,000 devices, while central site modem support has doubled from 128 modems to 256.
New prices for the 3800 Series modems include $1,195 for both the 3810 and 3811 and $995 for the 3820.
