AT&T PARADYNE ANNOUNCES DEVELOPMENT OF SOFTWARE PLATFORM FOR ACCULINK(R) MULTIPLEXERS

 AT&T PARADYNE ANNOUNCES DEVELOPMENT
OF SOFTWARE PLATFORM FOR ACCULINK(R) MULTIPLEXERS
LARGO, Fla., March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T Paradyne announced today the development of a software platform for its ACCULINK(R) multiplexers that will provide Fractional T1 (FT1) customers with full T1 benefits.
The technology, delivered via ACCULINK Advanced Fractional Networking (AFN) software, will enhance customers' network performance and availability, while reducing network costs.
AFN extends to FT1 links the full routing and management capabilities standard on T1 links. AFN also offers the capability for FT1 failure detection and recovery, a feature normally associated with full T1 facilities. In addition, AFN offers customers more control over applications routing, resulting in improved management of their networks. With AFN attribute routing, customers will be able to partition their network bandwidth and better control usage. Features such as node/logical link routing enable customers to specify the exact route of an application, thus facilitating network band with optimization.
The cost to upgrade existing ACCULINK products ranges from $1,335 to $2,500. Planned availability is scheduled for the second quarter of 1992.
